Technical Consultant and Instructor,
Mr. Michels has over
25 years experience in the US Coast Guard retiring as a Master Chief Petty
Officer. Twenty three of those years have been spent in and around
hazardous materials transportation. Mr. Michels has 16 years of practical
field experience and 14 years as an instructor with practical operations
and as a course designer.
While
he has an extensive background in the International Maritime Dangerous
Goods Code, Mr. Michels has been involved in conducting inspections
involving all modes of transportation and he has received training in the
IMDG Code, 49 CFR, IATA and ICAO regulations. His experience includes over
six years at the USCG Container Inspection Training and Assistance Team (CITAT)
and over five years at the Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown, VA.
Mr. Michels was instrumental in developing the Coast Guard Inspection
program.
